Perversion of silence

Speech or verbalized thought is a perversion of silence, this blog is an online journal of this perversion in my sphere of silence.

A wise man once told me that there are four states of communication,
  • Para - the silence before the initial sound, the void where there is no subject and no object.
  • Pashyanti - becoming aware of the thought / idea or concept. Pashyanti also means "seeing" or "being witness to" thus emerges the distinction between seer (drik) and object (drishya).
  • Madhyama - verbalizing the conceived in a given language. To translate the experience of this concept, we fit the unbounded into the bounded rational framework using the first principles of the object.
  • Vaikhari - speaking (or in this case writing) it out. The packaging and the sequence of the message.
The perversion does not end in my sphere of awareness once spoken out. The spoken words are then interpreted by the listener (or the reader) and sends them into pashyanti.

Tears...

Tears...

Around 8 years back a good friend of mine from the fairer gender advised me "Tears are women's most powerful weapon, you cannot ignore it, you cannot rationalize it, you cannot fight it....you guys are clueless. If you value your sanity of mind just shut the **** up when a woman cries there is nothing else you can do - the more you talk more the tears ...."

Since the advice there i have been in fortunate (or unfortunate depending on whether you are half glass full or empty) to witness the out pour. Let me give an example

A handicapped man with only his right hand went to a martial arts master and asked "Master, teach me kungfu!" the master taught him only one move and asked him to practice it regularly. After a few months of practice the disciple asked the master "I think i have perfected the move master, are there any other moves i should learn now." The master said, "This move should help you win in all situations, because the counter for this move is that you should have a left hand."

So men (from mars) go from problem to solution and women (from venus) dont want the solution or rationale, they just want to wail over the problem and over a period of time adjust to the problem and keep nagging over it at intermittent intervals for the rest of your lives!!!

But the problem with keeping quite is an other issue as well - we are then perceived as insensitive louts!!!

Silence is truly golden, isn't it?

A different class of people

Had a visitation with Dr. B. Narasimhulu, (Dr. Namalwar for those not in the know) over some viral fever yesterday. My worried mom asked the doctor if there is anything to worry about and his reply was "As long as I am there, there is nothing to fear."

My usually dull brain took that information and started processing  ....

- Dialogue!!!
- The statement is correct from a spiritual angle - the moment I is not there there is still nothing to fear!!! Again dialogue!!!

But then I saw the sincerity and conviction in his eyes. I for one cannot make such a statement to someone who I am seeing after 15-20 years that "I will stand by your son and see him come back to normal life."

Besides really one should have done it a few times in their lives to have perfected the process. Give it to us s/w guys, we would find 10 reasons why it wont work than 1 reason why it should work in the first place. Perhaps the industry is such. I don't know if people in other industries are like him.  There are very few people whom I have met, who show this kind of commitment in the first place, forget if they follow it or not.

Hats off, doctor!

cheers

PS: for the concerned souls - it was just a throat infection and fever that caused the trip.
